MELLA WELCOMES: ALEX PU, UCHICAGO STUDENT

Updated: Jul 7, 2021

Hey! I’m Alex Pu-- a current 3rd year undergraduate at the University of Chicago studying Business Economics. I have an acute interest in acute problem solving and entrepreneurship, so it is no surprise that I found myself drawn to Mella. I hope to one day start a business of my own, so I may take my turn in fulfilling one of society’s needs.

Growing up, both of my parents were (and still are) professional classical musicians. They spent years playing in operas and symphonies until 6 years ago when they opened their very own music academy, William Pu Music Academy (WPMA). Since then, I watched my parents' lives transform. At some point, their working hours changed, but they still put in the same, if not more, work into this new venture. I saw how happy my parents were in this new life--doing what they loved--and I was inspired! From that point on, I knew that I would want to start my own business at some point in my life.

For me, Mella has been part of my exploration into entrepreneurship and start-ups. Mella has blessed me with the most wonderful experiences and opportunities! From the warm company culture to the meticulousness with which Mella approaches the nuance of its hardware, I have been able to watch first-hand as Mella flourishes as an emerging innovator in the pet healthcare technology space. The experience of working with such a kind and passionate team is one that I will never forget.
